Aber Ukraine kann auch gut nachhaltig sein: Ukrainische Folklore hat über Jahrhunderte die Schriftsteller und Künstler zu tollen Werken inspiriert von Nikolaj Gogol bis Gogol Bordello. Dakha Brakha is still somewhat of a cult phenomenon in Ukraine. For the past five years, this award-winning, theatrical quartet of multi-instrumentalist singers has been experimenting with Ukrainian folk melodies and rhythms, motifs of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, mixing genuine, ethnically specific material with minimalism. DhakhaBrakha create wild and unforgettable music that is at once sacred and modern.
The sweeping charisma of the act lies in its roots – Dakha Brakha was founded in 2004 by Vladyslav Troitskiy, the director of an avant-garde theatre Dakh, and the influence is still evident in the shows of the band.
